End of Life Doulas provide non-medical, holistic care to individuals and their circle of support at any time during serious illness through end of life. That includes offering comfort and serenity care, emotional and practical support, guidance on the dying process, assistance with advance care planning, coordinating services and resources, as well as respite care for the primary caregiver.
Their role is to complement medical care which often includes working with other services such as hospice, to extend comfort and supportive services with more individualized attention -- including pre-planning arrangements, bedside vigil and support to loved ones.
Doulas are the missing link in our care system, helping us to honor death as an integral and sacred part of life.
The specific services that a Doula provides can vary widely depending on individual needs and the skills of the Doula. Please see the Services menu for more details about the comprehensive services that Susan offers.
